Sony Play Station 2 Review

The Sony PS2 is the industry leading video game console. It was released in the year 2000. Its direct competition is Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, and Microsoft Xbox. It has become all but obsolete with the release of Xbox 360 and PS3. Even though it is outdated, it still has great graphics with great games and allows endless entertainment for the user.

Where you can buy itsony-playstation-2

The Sony PS2 is available in a few retail stores. As previously stated, the Sony PS2 is becoming outdated, so it is getting harder to find in stores. If you look on the internet and eBay, though, it is quite easy to find one in good condition and it usually comes with a few games.

What it looks like

The PS2 comes in two different models. One is the standard size, which is pretty thick and has a disc tray that slides out. The newer model, appropriately called the PS2 slim, is very compact hand has an upward opening tray. The standard color is a Matte black finish. It is nothing special to look at, but it serves its purpose.

How it works

The PS2 is very simple to use. All you have to do is read the manual and setup will be a breeze. When I installed mine, there were only 4 cables to plug in. You just plug it in, turn your TV to an alternate mode, turn on the console and you are ready to play. All you have to do is insert a game disc and you will be having tons of fun in minutes.

Pros

- Compact machine, blends in with surroundings

- Easy setup

- Easy to use controls with multiple controller support

- Many different games to play

- Console can also be used to play DVD’s

Cons

- Most games require you to buy a memory card

- Graphics are becoming outdated with release of new technology

- Hard to find games for when shopping in a retail store

Games available

Any game that you can think of is available for PS2, if you can find it. Some of my favorites are Gran Turismo, Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil, Manhunt and Scarface.

Final Verdict

Personally, I love my PS2. It plays all the games I want to, it is very reliable and has never needed any fixing. While it is becoming outdated, it is still compatible with some great games and will offer hours of fun. I strongly recommend getting your hands on a PS2 and you will see exactly what I am talking about!…..

External Hard Drive Review

I never appreciated how useful an external hard drive could be until I purchased one to back data. I had a spare 40 gig hard drive, so I bought an external casing from MAPOWER.

It was extremely difficult to connect the hard drive and make it fit inside the case, but once that was done it was easy enough to use. The hard drive uses a USB connector and works a similar lead to a USB stick. There are no drivers to install, and Windows XP picks up the hard drive and installs it for you automatically — with absolutely no effort on your part.mapowerexternalharddisk

It works like a normal hard drive, and I found no speed or power restrictions with it. In fact I would venture to say that it outperforms the 80 gig sata hard drive installed on my computer currently.

But the best bit is, I can disconnect the hard drive and move it with me, whereas before I would be unscrewing the back of computer cases and kneeling on the floor. One does not truly appreciate how much easier this is until you actually do it. Sure, it requires that a power plug be nearby, but this is a small inconvenience in relation to huge benefits.

I use the external hard drive to back up my most important files very successfully. Because the hard drive is not the native disc of the computer, it does not get infected with viruses and is not prone to corruption from the operating system. It has been storing my important documents for well over two years and has never failed once.

As far as buying a new external hard drive goes, I would recommend getting a Seagate or Maxtor hard drive. I have had problems with Western Digital in the past, and would not recommend them. As far as size goes I would recommend getting at least a 120 Gig Drive, so you can store all your music and movies and not have to worry about space. ……
