Apple Ipod Nano Review
The first thing I noticed about the unit when I got home is how unbelievably light it was.
I didnt measure it , but when you put it in your pocket you forget that it is there. Its great when youre out running - you can stuff your ears full of music without ever feeling the device you are carrying.
The little colour screen is incredibly clear - and the little scroll wheel on the front of the pod is amazingly easy to use , as is the Itunes software that comes with it. The Ipod also displays pictures with super quality for such a tiny screen , and the interface makes it easy to locate and order your music - even if it only has 4 buttons and the scroll facility.
The unit is charged by a USB cable that links to your PC , and if you have Windows XP the setup is incredibly automated and is simply one touch stuff. Apple has really thought this little marvel out well.
You would think for such a tiny device there would be some drawbacks , but I failed to find any. The quality of playback was perfect , and the volume the Ipod pumps out is totally sufficent. Even the battery lasts long. I had it playing for about 4 hrs and the battery meter still shows full.
I had a look at the Ipod video , which has 30GB of space and far more features , and was dissapointed with it. It is large and cumbersome , and you will never use the vast amount of space it has unless you store other files on it.
I believe that , because the Ipod was designed as a music player , it should be used as a music player. The Ipod NANO does this perfectly without getting in your way , and without being a hassle.
You’ll have to fork out though - the device is +- R2000 , depending where you buy it. I would say its absolutley worth it!
