Sony Play Station 2 Review

The Sony PS2 is the industry leading video game console. It was released in the year 2000. Its direct competition is Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, and Microsoft Xbox. It has become all but obsolete with the release of Xbox 360 and PS3. Even though it is outdated, it still has great graphics with great games and allows endless entertainment for the user.

Where you can buy itsony-playstation-2

The Sony PS2 is available in a few retail stores. As previously stated, the Sony PS2 is becoming outdated, so it is getting harder to find in stores. If you look on the internet and eBay, though, it is quite easy to find one in good condition and it usually comes with a few games.

What it looks like

The PS2 comes in two different models. One is the standard size, which is pretty thick and has a disc tray that slides out. The newer model, appropriately called the PS2 slim, is very compact hand has an upward opening tray. The standard color is a Matte black finish. It is nothing special to look at, but it serves its purpose.

How it works

The PS2 is very simple to use. All you have to do is read the manual and setup will be a breeze. When I installed mine, there were only 4 cables to plug in. You just plug it in, turn your TV to an alternate mode, turn on the console and you are ready to play. All you have to do is insert a game disc and you will be having tons of fun in minutes.

Pros

- Compact machine, blends in with surroundings

- Easy setup

- Easy to use controls with multiple controller support

- Many different games to play

- Console can also be used to play DVD’s

Cons

- Most games require you to buy a memory card

- Graphics are becoming outdated with release of new technology

- Hard to find games for when shopping in a retail store

Games available

Any game that you can think of is available for PS2, if you can find it. Some of my favorites are Gran Turismo, Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil, Manhunt and Scarface.

Final Verdict

Personally, I love my PS2. It plays all the games I want to, it is very reliable and has never needed any fixing. While it is becoming outdated, it is still compatible with some great games and will offer hours of fun. I strongly recommend getting your hands on a PS2 and you will see exactly what I am talking about!…..

There are controls on each side so you can easily play the games with your thumbs while holding the console. It is a little heavy, but you will get used to it.

Playstation 3 Review

Everyone has heard the hype about it, some praising it and some criticizing it, but what is the hype about? The Sony Playstation 3 has caused a lot of hubba , especially from gaming enthusiasts. Even if you are not a gamer - this a a gadget is one you may want to have a tinkle with. The playstation 3 is a piece of equipment that you have to have in your collection - even if its just there to say that you have it.

The console has a funky  yet serious look about it. It appeals to all generations due to the widespread number of features on it - whether the intention is just to play, watch movies, listen to music or surf the Internet. However , the most popular feature appears to be the interactive online gaming experience that that console provides.

FeaturesPlaystation 3

The game is user friendly with a 60GB hard drive, built in memory card readers, 4 USB ports, Internet access indicator lights, disc loading slot to enjoy your favorite albums and home videos. It is also compatible with your favorite PS1/PS2 titles. This machine also features a touch-sensitive power button.  However , the main thing that draws one to the PS3 is the dazzling life like graphics that its engine produces. ( See video below for more details)

The large memory allocation allows one to store movies, and music without worrying about running out of space. Hooking up your Playstation to the inbuilt LAN port allows one to browse the Internet from ones TV …Perfect if you have a large 40 inch plasma…Wink

Cons

Though it?s great to have and a great piece of equipment, the downside of it though is the price. It is a bit on the expensive side and this puts the many teens that bought the PS2 out of the market , which is a curious marketing move form Sony. But I believe it is worth every cent. Another problem though is the amount of heat it generates and the few games available for it.If you are crazy about having the latest and greatest technology, Playstation 3 might just be what you need. It is something to invest on and it yields great value for your money.
