Wet Cell Phone - How to fix it!

Recently my cellphone got wet. Very wet. Its one of those flip open Motorola v3 razrs and it got completly logged with water. How it got that way will remain secret. The phone was completely messed.
At that point , I didnt have R1500 to chuck at a new cellphone. But , once again , good old google pulled up my answer and showed me a way to recover my vital communications tool.

Heres how I did it , and it worked. Crazy but true.

  1. Made sure I didnt try to turn it on or use it when it was wet.
  2. Washed the phone out with clean water from the tap - completely soaked it through.Water Logged Cell Phone
  3. Rolled the phoned in 10 layers of toilet paper.
  4. Put the phone in the oven at 50c for 10 hours. ( Yes - and the phone does get so hot you cant touch it - this is normal. Its doesent affect LCD screens , cameras or anything )
  5. Replaced the phones battery. ( These things short circut in water )
  6. Put the phone on charge for 10 hours.

This worked like a charm. The phone worked brilliantly and I saved myself 1350 rand. ( Minus battery costs ) .So if for some reason your communications center goes swimming , use this method to save yourself some bucks!

It definetly works for a lot of cases , or so I am told. And the alternative is to throw the phone away…so why not try??

Anyway - thats my handy tip for today…
